About Us
Rail2Rail operates from Kimberley in the Northern Cape and Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape, and has been a trusted leader in the industry for over a decade. We manufacture pre-stressed concrete railway sleepers (PY and P2; VY and V4) in compliance with SABS ISO 9001:2000 standards and are one of the largest manufacturers of concrete sleepers in South Africa. Additionally, Rail2Rail manufactures and imports various infrastructure materials, including concrete sleepers, rail, fasteners, and turnouts.
In 2020, a new facility was opened in Gqeberha to flash butt weld steel rails, predominantly for Transnet.
Rail2Rail has the capacity to produce 400,000 sleepers per annum, which are transported via a rail siding across South Africa. The company also manufactures turnouts and fastening systems, offering flexibility in the superstructures of rail infrastructure through our partnership with Vossloh.
Our manufacturing process for sleepers, turnouts, fasteners, and steel rods uses advanced French technology under license from our global multinational partners: Rail One GmbH, Vossloh, and France Rail Industry.
In partnership with Saarstahl Rail, Rail2Rail formed a South African-based company, Frans Rail Industries SA. Together, we have successfully delivered over 60,000 metric tons of rail to Transnet Freight Rail.
